Gizmondo Europe Ltd, subsidiary of Jacksonville, Florida-based Tiger Telematics Inc., made an announcement today regarding its distribution and retail partnerships for Ireland, following what has been an tremendously fruitful trade show for the company at this year's CeBIT in Hannover.

Sigma Wireless ("Sigma") has been appointed as an official distributor for Gizmondo and its products in Ireland. Sigma specialises in the distribution of telecommunications products and services on behalf of many of the world's foremost electronic manufacturers.

Sigma has confirmed its placement of an initial order, and Gizmondo Europe also announces the retail street date for Ireland of 19th April 2005. Leading Ireland based retailers that are already onboard to stock the new multi-entertainment handheld, priced at ?349, include 3G, Xtravision, and Spectra.

Tony Boyle, of Sigma Wireless, says: "There's been growing interest in Gizmondo since it created such a stir in at the Toys for Big Boys show in Dublin. We're thrilled to be working with Gizmondo Europe in bringing such a feature-packed piece of technology to consumers in Ireland."

Brendan Denhan, of Spectra, commented: "I've walked from one end of CeBIT to the other and this is the most innovative and exciting product I've seen."

Carl Freer, managing director, Gizmondo, says: "The demographic we're targeting in Ireland doesn't differ greatly from the UK, but in-depth knowledge of Irish retail channels is essential. Sigma has that expertise and experience, and we expect great things from them."

The Gizmondo is powered by Microsoft Windows CE advanced real-time operating system, boasting a 2.8-inch TFT colour screen with a Samsung ARM9 400Mhz processor and incorporates the GoForce 3D 4500 NVIDIA graphics accelerator. It provides cutting-edge gaming, multimedia messaging, an MP3 music player, Mpeg4 movie playing capability, a digital camera and a GPRS network link to allow wide-area network gaming. Additionally, it contains a GPS chip for location-based services, is equipped with Bluetooth for use in multi-player gaming and accepts SD and MMC card accessories.

The Gizmondo device and its games are in retail stores from 19th March 2005 in the UK, and in North American and Continental Europe markets from Spring 2005.
