Every so often, a product comes to our offices and really just makes you think, "Wow, why didn't someone else think of this first?" The idea is so simple, yet so many companies have failed to make it a reality in the past. The ability to make a truly portable PC system with the full-fledged power and capabilities of a desktop PC; seems easy, right? For heavy travelers, college dorm kids, and LAN party fanatics, this has been the holy grail of computer hardware. Finally, today, there is a product which satisfies what we've all been craving, thanks to a face we would have never thought would bring a product like this to market, Shuttle.
Shuttle has been a fairly recognizable name in the motherboard industry for a number of years now, in fact, dating back to when I was buying my first PC's. While Shuttle has never enjoyed the name recognition of some of the larger motherboard players like Asus or MSI, Shuttle has managed to keep a loyal following of board owners over the years with their mix of low-cost, stable platforms. They've never been the absolute tops in performance or features, and they've never been the most well known name in the industry, but they have time and time again delivered solid motherboards at decent prices.
