E3 2003: Our Grand Adventure
Ahh E3. Nothing like hanging in beautiful smog filled Los Angeles for a couple of days within a city that does not even have real trees! Where everyone can hang with sixty thousand industry types as they showcase what is hot and coming soon for the gaming enthusiast. PC addicts and console junkies are in heaven, or like a kid in a candy store with so many treats. And the booth babes, a story unto itself!
Sachant, Rayven, Valk, qx, Maestro, and I were really looking forward to attending E3 this year, more so for me as I've missed the past two with my last visit in 2000, and Sachant was not able to enjoy the show last year as she waddled (even though she does not waddle) around nine months pregnant. With so many MMO games coming out or being announced we had a full list of titles we were going to see.

E3 2003: May 14-16
Alas, the gaming convention that just won't quit rears its rendered head once again. Yep, E3 2003 is here, and we're terrified at what will become of our sleep cycles.
As always, GR will be updating each day after the show with sweet new info from games we happened to see. The fun doesn't end there, though, as we'll be posting hot new previews for a number of anticipated releases after the show, not to mention our annual GR Best Of E3 Awards. Plus, ever-vigilant editor in chief Ben Silverman will once again be forced to write up his opinions about the best and worst of the show, even if he's passed out in the corner. It wouldn't be the first time.

E3 Microsoft Game Roundup
As much real estate as E3 takes up in the Los Angeles Convention Center, some company always ends up stuck in a corner. Before you start to think it’s a sign of games that should be forgotten, though, take a look at Microsoft’s Xbox booth. In the back corner of South Hall, behind the eardrum-shattering EA booth and beyond the displays of Vivendi Universal and Activision, lay an expanse of Xbox paradise encompassing nearly half of the West Hall’s entire width. Sure, that property included a corner, but in that corner were such games as Project Gotham Racing 2, Voodoo Vince, Conker: Live and Uncut and, lest we forget, a theater where Bungie employees gave continuous demonstrations of a level from Halo 2. Not exactly forgettable games, to be sure.

A Trip Down E3 Lane
Earlier I introduced some of the crowd-grabbing titles featured at E3. This week will include three more like those, as well as the games that could well live on as disappointments.

HIGHLIGHTS:
HALF-LIFE 2
Not mentioning this title would be an injustice to everyone. Valve and Sierra made the announcement of a sequel to the hit-FPS Half-Life just days before E3. That left onlookers awaiting an impressive display of the sequel; being confirmed five years after complete silence.

E3 2003: More Hands-Ons...
E3 came and left within a heartbeat leaving nothing behind but the countless moments to be remembered… that is of course until next year. This year, like every year, getting your hands on a game is considered an accomplishment. I happened to get my hands on several titles, and maybe tell you a few things to look forward to.

007: EVERYTHING OR NOTHING
The current standard of FPS games began on the N64 with the release of Goldeneye. The game quickly established itself amongst the best games ever released, and drove the bar to a higher level. How can EA improve upon this? They thought they had found their answer with the release of Nightfire, another James Bond FPS, though the game didn’t meet gamers standards. This was not what they had expected from a company of its caliber. Now, EA will try a different approach as they plan to release yet another James Bond game, trying to make it as remembered as Goldeneye was.

E3 2003: A Few Quickies and Random Snapshots
If you've never been to E3 this might be the next best thing. E3 is all about snippets -- long and short, you get nothing but snippets of information, play time, and random images pressed into your psyche. We'll have a few more of these articles, pressing random images and snippets of games that appeared on the show floor.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (PS2)
I admit that I have a soft spot for the Turtles and it’s good to see them back in action after an lengthy hiatus. The look is semi-cel shaded and seems to mimic the animation of the new cartoon. The action is four-player much like Turtles in Time but completely 3D. I didn’t get more than a few minutes of playtime so I’m really looking forward to digging into it when it’s done.
