GameSpy: You've been in the industry for many years, starting with your days at MicroProse working on games like Railroad Tycoon, and ending up here at Ensemble Studios. What precisely are you doing for Ensemble these days?

Bruce Shelley: When (Ensemble) started, I was one of the designers of Age of Empires. I brought some ideas on how to manage the development process with me and helped decide how we would develop our games. Late in the development of AoE, I was asked to do some PR stuff. Lately, that has grown to be a major part of my contribution to the studio. I flew over 100,000 miles last year, mainly making PR appearances around the world for Age of Mythology. I am also part of the management team of our studio. While I do a lot of writing for our games, I am largely out of day-to-day design. That has been the responsibility of Ian Fischer, Greg Street, Sandy Petersen, and the rest of our design staff.
