I still wish companies would play things less safe, and actually try new things. I'm hoping future tactical FPS will include sub, aircraft carrier, and maybe even the occasional futuristic base where you see something a little bit scifi. Comment?

It's not funny because it's no longer a parody. It's simply stating the truth. That's the sad state the games industry is in right now.

? I thought it was funny BECAUSE it was true? Well, the pic is funny, not that situation itself is funny. The situation shows just how innovative most game developers are, especially those that are creating tactical shooters.

Well, with this type of humour the funny usually comes from making a parody. Enlarging stereotypes is what makes it funny most of the time.
This picture doesn't (unfortunately) enlarge stereotypes or make a parody out of the truth. It's a spot on assessment of the truth. Ofcourse I'm being a bit bitter here and there's a sizable portion of funny in the pic, but the realization of the truth saddens me in such a way that the picture loses it's funny because there's tears welling up in my eye. |

Yeah, I see your point that it's not far from the truth. And it probably could have been funnier (better?) if it was more parody and maybe less truth.
These map packs at $15 a pop for the CoD franchise are getting a little ridiculous too. If you want more than 8 MP maps, you end up forking over $75 (or more) for the game. I am still waiting for a tactical shooter that has episodic content. It doesn't even have to have single player that is episodic necessarily, but if there was a quality tactical shooter that had a dedicated team to making new maps, even with a price, but the maps were released more regularly, I'd for sure give it a try. You get bored of the 8 maps, then you get a pack that has 4 more. , why not slowly release 1 at a time so that people can enjoy, and "master" the new maps as they're released."Our game shipped with 8 MP maps, we know it's been 10 months since it's released and you're bored with those maps, so here's another 26 all at once." Their thinking is probably not to do that because they're affraid that people will only buy their good maps, and completely avoid their crap / unfun maps, thus, not being able to get 15 bucks for 3 crappy maps, and 1 good map. Where are you Counter Strike 3? ![]() |
