3DMark / Futuremark = Retards
So I download the latest version of their Vantage benchmark. Expecting to run it like I always have.
Come to find out, after downloading over 400MB and installing the program, they now only let you run the trail version ONCE, but besides that, they take me to their F*ing website and want me to register or get some trail cdkey. ![]() F* you 3DF*s What kind of What a bunch of fags. Talk about completely F*ing your potential customers, and if nothing else, screwing over your (use-to-be) fans of your software. K-bye

They ask money for a product in which they've invested serious time and money to develop it. Oh yeah just imagine. Screw them!

Seconded. I've read there are similar benchmarks out there and for free.

With no free, lite, shareware version. Yes. Screw them. For not mentioning it in large letters, since it's a change from what they use to do of allowing you to run it for free. Screw them twice! |

Well apparently you can run it once so there's your shareware version. Quote:
Well I guess it's a disappointment when things that used to be free are no longer free but they're a company and companies are there to make money. There's nothing evil or unethical about them asking money for you to run their demo. |

I agree with both of you guys, but I would be pretty upset if something I use regularly was no longer free...
However if it was so useful to me ethically I should be paying for it

The problem is that the free version was useful to me.
I guess they are betting on people willing to pay for it... I, however, am not. If nothing else, they should at least keep the old free copy available, but do they? No. Why? Because people would stick with the old copy instead of the latest version that costs. Screw em still. What is free should stay free. If anything, they should have done it when they released a brand new version that had all new benchmarks or something. To do it right with the same version that use to be free is pretty dumb. Not only from my perspective, but from their perspective and trying to save face. Instead, it's from their perspective of trying to make money that won over. A benchmark made by gamers, for gamers my ass. |

I never really thought it was a true benchmark anyway, just a way for people to stroke their epeens on the web.

I found it useful for testing video as far as heating up a card, and even giving a system a good "burn-in" to make sure all was well. If your system crashed during the bench, you knew something (most of the time) was up.
