Splinter Cell Soft Body Details
Soft body physic is an independent module we developed in-house in order to make some aspect of the environment look more soft, like flags, curtains, rope, lamp wire, etc. We made it in-house because we wanted the result to be made for our needs: nice and light in terms of CPU. The main idea of soft bodies is to pick a rigid wire frame and make it flexible when touched by a character, a bullet or a grenade. The system is simple : it requires to add collision parameters to all vertex in order to computer proper reaction when interfered by something in the environment...
