Corsair TwinX1024 XMS3500RE Low Latency Registered Memory at SystemCooling.com
I’m going to preface this review with two bits of information. Qualifiers, really. Firstly, I’ve used a lot of Corsair memory. A LOT. I’ve been using it since PC133 and have have had great luck with every stick I’ve owned. Secondly, I’m not a tech. I’m an enthusiast, albeit a rabid one.
All that aside, lets take a look at the product. This is XMS3500 memory that has just been released by Corsair. In fact, we are having a very early look at these modules. XMS3500 doesn't sound very exciting in this day and age, when PC4400 memory rules the high end, but this memory happens to be registered memory and that’s what sets it apart. Furthermore, I am reviewing two sticks of 512MB from the TwinX line of matched memory sets that Corsair sells at a bit of a premium.
Why is registered memory important? Well, my main system uses an AMD FX51 on an Asus SK8V motherboard, which requires registered memory. So, it’s important to me. Currently I’m using four 512 MB sticks of Corsair registered PC3200 memory. Soon we'll see if Corsair's XMS3500RE has anything extra to offer.
